Pioneer School Visit

During third grade my daughter's class got to visit a pioneer one-room country school house. They wrote on slate boards, recited poems they had worked on and even had to eat outside with the boys and girls separated.  They also were encouraged to dress the part.
As you can see they each got a photo opp in the dunce cap so I turned it into this cute layout. I started this layout with a sketch and a few photos of the outfit grandma helped make.
Once  I had picked the sketch I selected only one of the photos I had of her outfit - the dunce cap one was best! I found my papers and put it all together adding my die cuts in the right places.
The whole class had a great time. Thanks for visiting with me today.  I have been getting my photos and organized and getting pages completed feels great. Have a good day.

Get Outside with Die Cuttin' Divas

It is time to celebrate the Great Outdoors.  This week at Die Cuttin' Divas we want to see your projects celebrating camping, beaches and more outside fun. What is more fun than being outside in a tree house?

I made this fun card to send to my cousin who hosted our family reunion this month. He has built the most amazing tree house and all the kids played in it for hours.
I did a little embossing before putting all my pieces together for this fun tree to add a little texture. Everything went together for my tree house and swing with no problems.
Hope you are getting a chance to be in the great  outdoors this week (with a little time inside to be part of this challenge with Die Cuttin' Divas). Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
- Girls Only svg from KaDoodle Bug Designs (old)
- Pink By Design - Capture Life stamp

Project Life Rainbow

Summer is coming to an end faster than I wanted and I still have so many projects I want to start and finish. Number one on my list is finishing our Disney album form our holiday trip. I decided the best way to face this task was to go to the rainbow.
I have a Project Life rainbow of boxes (yes I put them in this order to be a pleasing look) and I decided that the hardest part for me is selecting the right cards so I took the weekend and did it.
I went though each box and collection of pocket scrapbooking cards  I have and selected cards for each page. Now all I need to do is go back and add the journaling, titles and finishing touches I love.

The hard part  is over so get ready to see some finished pages this week.

Hope it is a good one!!

Third Grade

We are getting closer and closer to the start of a new school year. That means it is time to make sure the school scrapbook is caught up from last year. This is the teacher and class photo spread for third grade.
Names have been removed from class photo in Photoshop
I took my color inspiration from my daughter's outfit. I went to my paper stash and found the DCWV Lemon Flower Stack and matching 4x6 mini stacks - they worked perfectly for this spread.
I used the font that I cut my title with to make the simple print and cut rectangles for the teachers names. Such a great and simple feature of Cricut Design Space
Soon I will have the photos for the brand new school year ready for their layout - crazy that it is already time for 4th grade.

Thanks for visiting today. Hope you are having a wonderful last few week's of summer.

Supplies:
- Cursive 101 Cricut Cartridge - lettering

Christmas in July with Die Cuttin' Divas

Welcome to a new challenge with Die Cuttin' Divas. This week we will celebrate Christmas in July with your Christmas themed projects.  I decided to make a fun and simple shape card.
I started out by selecting a wreath cut I liked as my card base.  I made an extra copy  of the base and mirrored it before welding the two shapes together for my base. (Cricut Design space even allows you to add a scoring line to your cards for easy folding).
The card cut out great and so I was able to make the wreath for the top with no problems.
The final touch was to add these stick on gems instead of the circles that are part of the cut file. I admit it took me awhile to get them all stuck on, but I really love the look. The touch of some red Stickles topped my bow.

I hope you can join our fun Christmas in July challenge this week.

Supplies:
- Celebrate With Flourish Cricut Cartridge - wreath cuts
- Xmas Red Stickles
- Irock heating tool
- stick on gems

Angry Bird Happy Birthday

Making the right birthday card for a young boy can be hard I think. They know what they like and if you get it right they are thrilled. Lucky for me - this time I know what the birthday boy really likes - Angry Birds!!
I went searching for an image to use and was able to find a print and cut image in a matter of moments. I also created the birthday banner and print and cut everything I needed to put the card together.
Once I had all my pieces ready to go I put things together on a blue base card.
The hardest part was getting the twine onto the card and wrapped around my "Y" that I had drawn some a wood like pattern on.  In the end, I was happy with the results for this upcoming birthday boy!! Thanks for stopping by to see what I am working on.

Sprinkled With Love

Time for a new challenge with Die Cuttin' Divas and this week we are celebrating Ice Cream because July is National Ice Cream Month (grab two scoops and join in the fun!). Here is the card  I made for our new challenge.
I found the sentiment stamp first and that meant I needed a fun sundae with sprinkles.  I found this cute one and the card just came together right.
To make the card extra fun I made sure the cherry and sprinkles were extra shiny with some Glossy Accents (love how they make them shine!)
For the sentiment, I used some pop  up dots to make it stick out a little from the card.

Now I am off to get my own ice cream treat (maybe one each day this month, just to celebrate). I hope you enjoy a treat and get some time to play along with us this week at Die Cuttin' Divas. Thanks for visiting. I always enjoy to hear what you think.

Talking Mickey

Did you know that you can now visit with Talking Mickey Mouse at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World? It is such a fun experience.  When we visited with  him, he did magic tricks and roared like a lion with our daughter.
For this page I layered a bunch of different elements to get my end look. I started with the cards and elements from the SN@P! Studios Say Cheese collection.
Once  I had selected the right cards and elements I got to work layering everything just the way I wanted. I admit I am picky so this took me awhile (it took awhile to pick  the right cards!!)
In the end, I layered small 2x2 cards and tags with some fun brads and element pieces to get it all the way I pictured it in my mind. The final touch was adding the date onto  my card. For this I used a combo of 2 mini-stampers
We  had so much fun during this meet and greet at the Magic Kingdom. Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

If you are looking to have a magical Disney vacation I have the perfect Travel Professional to help you plan this trip.  Erik Lindstrom, Travel Professional can help you prepare a wonderful Disney getaway. He is getting very close to his 500th like on Facebook so check him out.

Road Trip Sketch with Die Cuttin' Divas

Happy Sketch Tuesday everyone. There is a new sketch challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas this week and I am super happy to share my project with you.
I decided the sketch would make the perfect cover for some special books I was making. - especially once I flipped it on its side.
I made fun Road Trip journals for my daughter and niece. They are currently traveling with their grandparents together for the first time. My daughter has done this alone the past few years but was so excited her cousin was coming this time.
I  started with some light chip board and covered it with some fun print. You just need to wrap your board like a present and cover the seems with a rectangle cut. Once it was all set I laid down the base of the sketch.
I found a fun car shape and road trip label and created them using coordinating papers. I added the girls' initials to the license plate as an extra touch.
I needed these print and cut circles to add the date as well as finished off the sketch.
I also created some fun inside journal and activity pages for them. There are so many great ideas out there that I pieced together what I liked for mine. I made cross word puzzles, scavenger hunts and more.
All that was left was  to punch the hole and cinch it all together. That was a little harder due to the large size so I used to sets of 10 holes to create my binding.
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.  I am sure the girls are having a great time with their grandparents. I hope you get a chance to play with this fun sketch this week at Die Cuttin' Divas.

Family Reunion Name Tags

Happy Sunday all. Today is a very special day for my family. We are having our first family reunion in about 20 years. Sure we have seen each other in part for weddings and sadly funerals, but today we just get to celebrate being us.
I was in charge of name tags and I created something simple using my Silhouette machine and the fantastic ability to print and cut.

There are 3 brothers who everyone in the family connects to so I used each of their names on one tags and people will write their name and how they are connected.
Using some Avery sticker paper made these come out just right. Hope you have a wonderful day - hug someone in your family today.

The Genie of the Ring

Yesterday I shared the cards I made for all the kids in my daughter's theater camp.  Today I wanted to share the card I made just for her.
They performed the play, The Magical Lamp of Aladdin and in the show my daughter's main role was The Genie of the Ring.  It made sense that I make her a giant ring card.
I welded two large ring bases together to create my card and using Design Studio added a score line.
I am very fond of not having to glue small letters onto my cards anymore.  I just use the print and cut feature to make sure my words look just how I want them to.
Once I had my card base all set, I cut out the rings using a fun shiny paper I had in my stash.  I repeated the ring for the inside on top of an additional print and cut message.  I had been joking for a week that I would make her a large ring.  She was happy with this.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  As always I love to hear your thoughts on my projects.

Supplies:
- Sweethearts Cricut Cartridge - ring
- Aladdin font from dafont.com
- Circle for print and cut form Design Studio

The Magical Lamp of Aladdin

My daughter spent the last 2 weeks at a local theater camp.  In those 2 weeks, 18 kids (ages 9-11) put on a 2 act play. They rehearsed 3 hours a day, memorized all their lines and by the looks of it had a wonderful time. It was very impressive to watch to perform over the weekend. I wanted to do something special for each actor so I made this fun cards.
The lamp was easy thanks to the Disney Dreams Come True cartridge. Making sure I could fit them onto my leftover gold paper took a little maneuvering as you can see. I love that in Design Studio, before you cut you can move things on the mat where you want them.
Once I had the lamp I needed the smoke.  To make this I welded together a cloud cut and a speech bubble so the smoke would have a trailing tail I could attached to the lamps. Thanks to print and cut this was an easy task.
I cut 20 of these small cards - about 5 1/2 inches when open for each member of the class and the directors. I cut matching stickers out of some label paper and signed each one from my daughter. It was fun to hand them out and everyone was so sweet in their responses. A fun two weeks for sure.

Thanks for visiting, as always your comment are welcome and loved. I would also love if you also followed me on Facebook to see my  projects.
